Teacher of the Year


Each year the NHCTE recognizes and celebrates excellence in the teaching of English. Any English teacher who has at least five years (not including the current year) of full time English teaching experience (at any level) and is a member in good standing of the New Hampshire Council of Teachers of English is eligible for this award. Nominees will be asked to demonstrate the following:

  •  knowledge of his or her discipline and dedication to lifelong learning
  • ability to challenge and stimulate students in active exploration
  • ability to integrate English/language arts with other fields and disciplines
  • interest and concern for students and their work
  • capacity to inspire and motivate others
  • membership and involvement in professional organizations (NHCTE and/or NEATE and/or NCTE)
  • involvement in professional development activities
  • positive impact on the teaching profession.
